How to Prepare for What’s Coming
A series of simple plans.
Three years ago, my family moved from Reno, NV to Warren, PA. It was a very spur of the moment decision. Our rent had gone from $1400 to $2400 a month in three years, and we’d just gotten notification that it was going up again, by $300 a month.
We couldn’t find another house in our home town. Literally, there was nothing. I don’t mean nothing we wanted. I mean nothing at all. No rentals.
We moved to my husband’s hometown at the end of the 45 day notice our landlord was obligated to give us. I’d never been to Pennsylvania before. So, that was — interesting.
Here are some things that have happened in the last three years.
- The entire town of Paradise, CA (not far from Reno) was on fire when we left.
- There have continued to be wild fires in that area so bad that schools have to shut down due to bad air quality.
- There have been no severe winters in my area of PA. When my husband lived here in the 80s, the winters were definitely severe. Lake Effect snow doesn’t happen here anymore.
- The world has been in a pandemic most of the time we’ve lived here.
- There’s currently a war happening that I keep hearing…
